A reminder to student council members: our next meeting is on Tuesday at 3:30 in Room 1511. We will be planning for our upcoming Valentine's Day event! See Mrs. Jenkins or Mrs. Sutton with questions.

Congratulations to our 8th grade C team for the two victories over Options last night. The Knights won the first game 43 - 11. Jack Wainscott led the way with 15 points. In the second game the Knights slowed down the pace but we still came out on top 33 - 8. Julian Kibe and Brody Wallace each chipped in two points and three assists. Our next home game is Tuesday night against Euclid. Way to go Knights!

The winning word in our school Spelling Bee was MANGELS. Can you spell it? (Pause) No, seriously, spell it out loud! (Pause). The correct spelling is M-A-N-G-E-L-S, and the person who spelled it correctly and won our bee was Wyatt Henderson! Second place went to Sam LeClaire, and Maddie Luenberger took third! All three of these 7th graders will compete at the district Spelling Bee in February. Congratulations Wyatt, Sam, and Maddie, and good luck as you progress in the Scripps Spelling Bee process!

Congratulations to the Newton Boys 7th grade basketball teams on a successful first away game against Powell. Our boys A Team Won 35-26. A quick shout out to Chris Anderson for having a strong performance on A Team. Our B Team- Won 24-4, a shoutout for strong teamwork and performance to Fisher Faust, Christian Wright, and Brady Thibault. And last our C team fought tooth and nail but sadly lost by 2 points with a final score of 20 to 22. But we still want to shout out Conor Byorick and Blake Patterson for a great job and teamwork! Overall amazing performance by all our players!! Go Knights! Come Support our 7th grade Boys Next week at home against Goddard!

Please plan on attending in Mr. Wood's room (0527) from 3:30 until 4 PM. If you cannot attend the optional meeting on Tuesday, Mr. Wood will track you down on the morning of the bee to get you anything you need.

In addition, Mr. Wood is offering an OPTIONAL informational meeting after school on Tuesday, January 16. If you are interested and available, please plan on attending in Mr. Wood's room (0527) from 3:30 until 4 PM to review rules and procedures. You'll get your spelling bee t-shirt, and we'll have a practice round to prepare for the bee.
