Pledge of Allegiance

“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all.”

The 8th grade Lady Knights took on Goddard Tuesday night in the district semi-finals.

A Team roared out to a 24-3 lead at halftime and never looked back. The team cruised to an easy victory by the score of 42-3. The Lady Knights were once again led in scoring by Esme G. with 20 points. Riley B. added in 14. The Twin Towers, Lila and Tanna W, continued to dominate in the paint with their rebounding and physical play. Ruby Plumb continues to shine as a rugged defender and leader from the point guard position. The Lady Knights played ferocious defense all night and kept Goddard scoreless in the 2nd half as they cruised to victory. Saturday they will play for the city championship.

B Team gave a valiant effort in their semifinal game, but could never recover from their rocky start as they lost 28-12 to Goddard. Newton was led in scoring by Quincy O and Peyton N with 4 points each. Lili M and Jet J also contributed to the scoring for the Lady Knights. They will now play for 3rd place on Saturday at Euclid.

Come out and support these ladies as they try and bring home one final win this season.

The High School Musical run-throughs continue to get better and better!! There are so many great things happening on the stage! The brainiacs and rebels are getting all their songs and dances down.  And the lights are looking amazing!  We are really excited for Newton to see the performance next week.

Do you want something to do Thursday afterschool? You'll be happy to know that you can come to the No Name Club! All are welcome to come and hang out, play games, or make art. Just come to the art room after school tomorrow.  Please talk to Mrs. Winschuh or Ms. Andrews for more information.

Attention Chess Players: The district chess tournament will be here at NEWTON on Saturday, December 9 from 8 AM to approximately 3 PM. Chess players from Kindergarten to 8th grade will compete from all schools in our district (grades 6-8 will compete with one another). This is an awesome event, with more than 100 kids competing every year. This year the registration is FREE, but you must register. See Mr. Guggliotto in 6th grade, Mr. Wood in 7th grade, or Ms. Winchuh in 8th grade for more details, OR simply scan the QR code from one of the posters hanging around the building. Don't miss this exciting chance just because you don't feel like an expert! It's a great experience for all skill levels.

There is no flag football today after school. Please make sure you have a way home. Thank you and see Ms. Seavall with questions

Great job 6th grade wrestlers as you traveled to Powell and represented extremely well at the festival last night. It was evident that all wrestlers took what they had learned from this season and put it to use on the mat. We had some pins, cradles, throwdowns and a rock solid bloody nose.

Wrestling next stop is at the tournament next Tuesday here at Newton. See you all there.

Congratulations to the 7th grade girls basketball A-team on a 36 to 10 win over Euclid yesterday. Lila Wicks had an outstanding game with 16 points to lead the way for the Lady Knights. Good luck to our 8th grade girls in their games this afternoon.

Attention student council members: Please look at the Reminder note you were sent yesterday if you are attending the HHS leadership conference on Wednesday. We will meet in the office at 9am!

Our next planning meeting will be on Thursday, November 9th after school at 3:35-4:30pm. See you there!
