        EVEN Day  Schedule

Pledge of Allegiance

Attention 6th and 7th grade students!!  If you are interested in being an office, library, classroom assistant or connections student for next school year, you HAVE to fill out the google form in your grade level google classroom.  This is due by the end of the day on Friday April 29.

 

8th grade NJHS members - your April service hours are due Monday, May 2nd.

 

Attention all sTEm students who have unfinished sheet metal projects from earlier this year. Mr. Finer will be holding two after school sessions where you can come in and finish them up. They will be next Tuesday and Wednesday, May 3rd and 4th. You do not need to sign up, just show up and make sure you are wearing proper shoes.

 

This week the 8th Grade Lady Knights took on Powell in the district semi-finals at Newton.  

On Tuesday night, the Newton C team battled with the Powell C team in 3 very close games. Allison P, Haley K, and Olivia H lead the Knights with their powerful serves.  Ultimately the momentum from the first game wasn't enough and Powell was able to eke out a win 21-25, 25-21, 17-15.

A and B teams battled for their spots in the tournament on Thursday night.  A team took on Powell in the first match of the evening.  The serving of Kinsey C, Julia H, Sophia P, Kate H, and Ellie C kept the points rolling in leading to a 25-23, 15-25, 13-15 victory for the Knights.

B Team finished the night by winning the final match 2 games to 1.  Riley I and Charlotte M's decisive serving kept the points rolling in and the floor play of the team kept the Pumas on their toes. 

Congratulations to the Knights for an exciting start to tournament week. 

Saturday, the Newton Lady Knights' Volleyball will compete in the district tournament at Powell. 

C Team arrive at 9:30am for your 10:00 am match 

B Team arrive at 1:30am for your 2:00 pm match against Goddard

A Team arrive at 2:30 pm for your 3:00 pm match against Goddard

Remember to bring a change of clothes so you can turn in your uniforms and $3 for our end of season pizza party

For the finals on Saturday, April 30, the rear gym doors at Powell will be open by 8:30. Please use the driveway beside the bus loop and park on the blacktop basketball courts. Wheelchair access is possible from the court driveway via sidewalks to the rear gym doors. Tournament play will try to stick to games beginning at the top of the hour but be aware that longer matches could cause delays. Players please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled match.

Monday, April 11,2022 ODD DAY CMAS TEST SCHEDULE

 Attention 6th graders! Are you interested in learning how to bump, set, and spike? Do you want to enjoy playing a fun sport with your friends? If so, then volleyball intramurals is for you! 6th grade co-ed volleyball will start next week. There will be information and sign ups during your lunch period TODAY. Practices will begin on TOMORROW morning at 7:45 in the gym.

Wednesday, March 9, 2022 EVEN Day LATE START Schedule

 There will be an NJHS meeting on Friday, 3/11 at lunch. Please make sure to pack your lunch and wear your t-shirts. If you have any questions or conflicts, please see Ms. Omdahl.  

The Lady Knights had their first game of the season last night at Powell.  The gym was electric with excitement for the competition. Newton A defeated Powell in two games 25-21, 25-18 lead by the serving prowess of Kinsey C, Shelby K, and Julia H.  While B Team's effort did not result in a win Tuesday night, they forced Powell to play three tightly contested games and were lead to victory in game two by a string of Aces served by Katherine R.  C Team battled mightily but was unable to secure victory.  Haley K's consistent serve kept the lady nights close in the first game.   Congratulations for an exciting night.  

 

Come cheer on the Knights Thursday as they take on Goddard!

Wednesday, February 16, 2022 EVEN Day LATE START Schedule

 8th grade Lady Knights who missed the volleyball interest meeting, but are still interested in playing Volleyball, please stop by 0529 for an information packet, or join us Thursday after school in the gym for our first practice.

8th grade boys basketball players -  Coach Morgan needs all of your uniforms in room 1430 right away.

The boys 7th grade basketball teams completed an undefeated season with all three teams defeating Goddard yesterday. 

The A team pulled out an exciting overtime victory by a final score of 43 to 35. The team was led by Jacob D's 10 points. Clutch free throws by Jacob and Tyler N helped seal the deal.

The B team cruised to a dominant 37 to 4 win. They started out strong and never looked back. Ryan N was the leading scorer with 8.

Finally, the C team finished off the undefeated season with a 28 to 8 win. The team was placed by 6 points a piece from Mac A and Cristian B.

Congratulations to all three teams on a great season.

Wednesday, February 9,2022 ODD Day LATE START Schedule

 The 8th grade boys B and C teams defeated Options on Monday night!

Congratulations to all three of the 7th grade boys basketball teams on their sweep Euclid last night.

The A team won a very entertaining game 33 to 30. Every player contributed to the win as did the enthusiastic and loud crowd that cheered us to victory.

The B team made it look easy with a 27 to 10 win, led by Hank's 11 points.

The C team completed the sweep with a 22 to 10 win, with some outstanding efforts from David, Garrett and Levi.

Well done 7th grade boys!

Students, a friendly reminder that we are not eating outside at all anymore.  This means you will need to eat in the cafeteria.  This includes chips, cookies, etc….  That means you may need to eat a bit faster. Everyone still needs to go outside for the last five minutes of recess!

 

Students that plan to stay after school for sporting events at Newton.  A reminder that no food is allowed in the gym and students need to stay in the gym and stay seated.  Running in and out of the gym will result in you being asked to leave or have a parent pick you up.

 

The Knight statue winners this week are Mrs. Adolph, Mrs Rice, Mrs. Cruz, Mr. Marshall, and Mrs. Kyle. Thank you for modeling the CODE.

Our B team defeated Goddard Tuesday night and our C team won in overtime (18-18). Dillon D scored a 3-pointer in sudden death overtime to win the game.

Our 8th grade boys B team beat Powell last night 29-7. Our C team lost in overtime but played a great game. 

 

 B & C team has a game against Options Monday night and our C team semi finals are Tuesday.

 Good morning! As you may have noticed, there are some sticky notes around your grade level pod today. Each sticky note has a kind saying or compliment. Feel free to grab one and hand it to a peer or a teacher, or write your own!

"Congratulations to the 7th grade boys basketball teams on their sweep of Powell last night. The A team won 47 to 9, led in scoring by Jacob D and Landon W. Our B team also looked fabulous with a 41 to 12 victory. Outstanding performances from Jackson W and Jack O. Finally, the C team completed the sweep with a 33 to 8 win. The C team's efforts were led by Harry S, David M, Cristian B and Mac A. Way to go Knights!"

 Attention 7th grade boys basketball players:  We will practice TOMORROW morning at 7:45. 

A huge congratulations for all the participants of last night's spelling bee at Newton! Honorary mention certainly goes out to Nathan V, Lucy S, and Sarah H, but in the end, it came down to two amazing competitors: Carter S and Abigail T who fought through over 55 rounds! And the winner, the Newton representative at the district bee in February, is Abigail T! Congrats again to both of our awesome spellers!

 There will be an NJHS meeting in Ms. Omdahl's room during lunch this Friday.  Please wear your NJHS shirt and make sure to bring a sack lunch. If you have any questions, see Ms. Omdahl.
