HELP us on these Cold Days!

As you are well aware, on these cold days many more people drop off their students.

WEST LOT - If you are coming South on Colorado Blvd - Please make sure you are not entering the intersection at the parking lot exit until you know you can clear the driveway. If you block the exit from the lot those people can not leave and therefore you can not enter, NOBODY can move!

EAST LOT - please watch carefully for children exiting vehicles.

ALTERNATIVE TO OUR LOTS ---- You can drop off your students  at the Salvation Army Church, Olinger Mortuary, in the neighborhood South or North of school. We have teachers on duty at the crosswalks to help them.

When you are let in early on snow days, you are to go straight to the cafeteria, not your lockers, etc.

There will be an improve performance today in the mini theater at 4:00 by an Improv group that has been meeting in our mini theater this year. You are welcome to attend but make sure you have a ride home as it ends at 4:30 and you will have missed the late bus. You must leave the building immediately after, so make sure your ride is waiting for you in the lot at 4:30

Attention chess players:  Would you like to test your skills against other LPS students?  The district chess tournament is coming up on Saturday, December 6.  The tournament will be held here at Newton and will run from 8:00 am to about 3:00 pm, depending on how long the rounds last.  This is a non-elimination tournament, so everyone gets to play all five rounds.  Registration forms can be found outside Mrs. Lacey's room, 206, and need to be returned to Mrs. Lacey by November 21st. 

6th graders, if you like drawing, join the contest for best sketch. Give your sketch to Mrs. Svigel by Monday, November 17th to possibly have it published in the next newspaper edition. Your sketch must be school-appropriate, and drawn on clean, white paper. Congratulations to Lily R and Andrew M for winning the poetry contest in our first edition.

HEY EVERYONE! The code cart will be coming back this Friday, November 14th so bring your cards to lunch. If you don’t want to spend your code cards on Friday then save them up for the next quarter award. Also, Students AND Staff, Remember to give out those CODE Cards.
