Good morning 8th graders! On Thursday, May 10th, your teachers officially challenge you to a volleyball match after school in the gym. There's no volleyball experience required! Girls AND boys are welcome! If you would like to participate in this historic competition, please sign up on your grade-level Google Classroom site. You can also sign up to participate without playing, so everyone should check out the survey! 6th and 7th graders, there's a survey for you, too! Even though you won't be playing, you can still pick a side and help make posters to support. See flyers around the school or Mrs. Sutton if you have any questions.

"7th Grade Girls volleyball played a great game at Powell. A Team won,
shutting out Powell in the 2nd game with a score of 21 to 2. Ryan J served
like a champ, and Caroline W came in with some amazing spikes.
B Team played hard and just narrowly missed a win. Every player
contributed to the close call with some spectacular floor dives and saves.
C Team won in Game 3, a neck in neck
race that was finished off by game winning serves from Ashley C and Annie V.
Come cheer on the girls at the last game, here at Newton on Monday after school!"

The 7th grade boys A team lost the season finale 25 to 31 against Euclid last night.  Quinten G led the team with 7 points and 6 rebounds, while Miles J chipped in 5 points and 6 rebounds.  The B team ended it's season undefeated, winning another close game, 22 to 21.  Caleb W gave the Knights 10 rebounds and 8 points, and Lars R added 10 points with 8 rebounds.  The C team improved again, but took a loss.  Ryan W had 4 points, and Damarus R pulled in 5 rebounds.  Congrats on a great season, Knights!  Please wash your uniform and get it back to Mr. Worsley as soon as possible.

The 8th grade boys basketball C-Team beat Powell 27-17 at Saturday’s district tournament to bring home the championship. Reid C led the team with 10 points and Jacob G scored 5 points with Ali Oscoring 4 to lead the way. B-Team lost a hotly contested championship game 27-36. Maxwell R and Zachary D led the team in scoring; overall it was a great effort for Newton as they walk away with a 2nd place overall finish. A-Team was crowned the champions with a 53-43 win over Powell. Chase D scored 28 points with 7 3-point shots made! Alex H scored 12 points, and Jareb R had 13 rebounds for the Knights. Cooper F's defense was smothering all game long and led to many easy baskets for Newton. The Knights finished the season undefeated at 8-0! Overall each team had a fantastic season and Coach Conant would like to thank all players for their effort. It was truly special coaching these boys this year. Thank you also to everyone who came out to support!

The boys basketball A-Team beat Euclid 52-38 to advance to the championship game on Saturday. They were led by Cooper F's 16 points and stellar defense while C.J. G had 11 points and Chase D chipped in 13. Alex H scored 11 points and added 12 rebounds. B-Team beat Euclid in a thrilling 20-18 win in double overtime to advance to the championship game in a great overall team win where everyone contributed. Logan T sank the winning free throws with 1.5 seconds left to seal it. He scored 7 points and Zachary D added 6 points for the Knights.


A, B, and C-team players, please  listen carefully! The tournament is here at Newton on Saturday. Arrive 30 minutes before game time: C-Team plays at 12noon - arrive at 11:30; B-Team plays at 1 - arrive at 12:30; A-Team plays at 2 - arrive at 1:30. Games start soon after the previous game ends, so plan extra travel time with the snowy forecast in case your game starts early. Let’s bring home some trophies, and good luck in all three championships!

C-Team beat Options 18-8 last night to advance to the championship game on Saturday. Reid C and Jacob G led the team in scoring. Mac U's all-around good play turned the game in our favor in the 3rd quarter. Our A and B-teams play their semi-final games vs Euclid today after school in the gym. Come cheer on your Newton Knights!


Congratulations to Noah C, the 2018 Littleton Public Schools DISTRICT spelling bee champion!  Noah out-spelled 43 other students to claim the district title and will represent Newton at the state spelling bee in March. His championship word was arbalest (ar-buh-lest). Way to go, Noah!

Lost and Found lunch bags and water bottles will be thrown out tomorrow!  Pick them up before school is over.

The 7th grade boys basketball A team came back from 9 points down to beat Goddard 35 to 34.  All 7 players scored, and Quinten G led the team with 12 points.  In the B game, Newton hung on to win a defensive battle 23 to 21.  Lars R scored 10 points, while Caleb W added 7.  In the C game, Newton improved from their last game but still came up on the losing side.  Ben A led with 4 points.  Newton will host Euclid next Monday, in the season finale, so come out and support your Knights!

8th grade boys basketball A-Team beat Powell last night 37-29 behind Alex H's 14 points and Jareb R's 11 rebounds. Good team defense was the key to victory. B-Team lost 40-17 but Micah C, Zachary D, Maxwell R, and Sean H were the top scorers. C-Team beat Powell 24-10 behind a great overall effort.  Tyler D and Jakob D were the leading scorers. 8th grade semi-finals start next week and 7th grade plays their first home game Monday, so be sure to come watch! Go Knights!

On Tuesday, the 8th grade boys basketball teams had another great night. A-Team beat Goddard 47-39 behind Chase D's 20 points. Jareb R added 6 rebounds to the effort. B-Team lost a heartbreaker 29-30. Ben A's 2 late 3 pointers helped rally the Knights from a 6-point deficit in the last minute. C-Team defeated Goddard 41-14. Reid C scored 8 points and Tyler D had 6 points to lead the way. Come watch the dominating Knights take on Powell today after school!
