Friday, November 19.2021 EVEN Day Schedule

 The Newton Knights ended their wrestling season in style. Our school hosted some of the best wrestling talent in the district. Our wrestlers fought hard on the mat! From our JV team, Preston G took second place and Tyler A took first place in his weight class.

Our varsity team was great! First time wrestlers Drake J, Noah F, Gavin P and Luke F all took second place in their weight class. Way to go gentlemen!

Chase B took first place on the Varsity team in his weight class. He is the best wrestler in his class in the district. Way to go Chase!

A special shout out to Charlotte J who fought on mat and then raced over to be in the play!

Great job to all of you! 8th graders, it's been a great ride, thank you so much for all you have done. 6th and 7th graders, we look forward to seeing you next year.

  Attention all students.  This Friday there will be a CODE raffle.  We will be collecting CODE Cards from students TODAY DURING LUNCH and the drawing winners will be announced on Friday.

So bring your CODE Cards to lunch with your names on them  TODAY to get a piece of candy.

Do you want something to do Tuesday’s after school?   You'll be happy to know that the Newton No Name Club is back! All are welcome to come and hang out, play games, or make art.  The No Name Club will meet Tuesdays afterschool in the art room.  Our first meeting will be the Tuesday after Thanksgiving Break.  Please talk to Ms. Andrews for more information.

Wednesday, November 17, 2021 LATE START EVEN Day Schedule

 The 8th grade girls basketball team dominated their opponent on Tuesday night. It was a team effort to generate points. Vivian M found the perfect shot to score 8 points.  Early in the second half, Sienna B scored her first points, Charlette M scored her first free throw and later set a screen leading to Annika S first bucket of the night. Keirsten S was able to rebound and score continuing to generate points for Newton. Congratulations Newton, next up a road trip to Euclid for the first away game of the season.

 There will be no Wrestling practice TODAY. Our final practice will be TOMORROW after school. We look forward to seeing you. Once again, even though there is a Tuesday practice on your blue schedule, it has been cancelled; our only practice this week is TOMORROW.

Congratulations to the 7th grade girls basketball A team who defeated Goddard yesterday. Chloe and Carolin M and Lauren O accounted for most of the points.  Also, great job to the B team who finished their season with an inter-squad scrimmage!  Great Season Knights!

Wednesday, November 10, 2021 LATE START ODD day schedule

 There will be a NJHS meeting at lunch in Ms. Omdahl's room THIS Friday.  PLEASE also make sure to wear NJHS shirts ON FRIDAY AS WELL.

The electricity was in the air last night in Newton's gymnasium as the Knights squared off against their long time rival, Euclid Middle School. 

Zachary G played an essential role for the team as he defeated his opponent in an exciting match. Noah F has been knocking over his opposition as he keeps racking up the pins, keep up the good work Noah! Kingston W showed the definition of true grit as he fought through exhaustion and finished off a nail-biting match. Andrew S was the ultimate professional as he defeated his opponents with skill and patience. Last but not least, Jordan R was a dominating factor as she showed us all what she has learned this season as she cruised to an easy victory. 

Mark your calendars as the season tournament is next week, here at Newton! See you then.

Friday, November 5, 2021 EVEN Day Schedule

 Thursday night wrestling at Goddard was quite an event! There was so much action it was hard to know where to look. To start, Luke F is a beast, his opponents did not know what hit them as he rolled through all of his matches. Mack W has dominated this season with his 5th straight pin, way to go!! Jordan R was amazing as she worked her way through a nail biter and defeated a solid opponent. Morgan C fought hard through injury and secured his way to victory. Tyler A is a leader on and off the mat, he churned out multiple wins for the Newton Knights. Honorable mentions for great wrestling include Levi K, Preston G, Dillon D, Daisy and Lizzie P and last but not least Gavin P.

 

7th and 8th Grade wrestlers excellent news! We have a bonus practice on Monday November 8th. We will be outside so please bring sweats, a hoodie, and your running shoes.

 Last night's match-up against Powell was spectacular. Our Newton Knight wrestlers did not disappoint as they squared off against their tough rival. Every wrestler fought hard but a couple stood out for all to see. Casen W matched up multiple times and came up with a clinch win when our team needed it the most. Jordan R fought hard in her second match and defeated her opponent in the final seconds. Noah F ended the evening with an amazing win that sent the fans to their feet in the stands. Many other great performances include: Luke F, David M, Chase B, Tyler A, Davis S, and Mack W.

 Way to go to the 7th grade girls basketball teams.  Even though we came up short, both teams played hard with a lot of heart and determination.  In the first game, Hayden P lead the way with 4 points followed by Elsa R , Reagan and Lauren O, Caroline M, Vanessa P and Avery S all with baskets!  Great defense was played by the entire team as we almost fought our way to victory.  Come support our team at home next Monday, Nov. 8 right after school against Euclid!
