Pledge of Allegiance

“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all.”

Earlier this month Newton hosted the district chess tournament.  Our Newton Knights showed up and did a great job!  First place in the middle grades division went to Brandon Moore, third place went to Zoe Herring, and seventh place went to Adam Cohrs.  Jacob Thomas received the sportsmanship Medal.  Way to go Knights!

Last night the 8th grade boys basketball team had their first game at Euclid. The excitement was thick in the air and everybody played their hearts out. The A-Team battled hard but unfortunately lost at the very end of the game. The B team came out battling and played hard but in the end could not overcome the Euclid team. In the final game of the night the C team battled back-and-forth all night long with Euclid. Euclid scored with 25 seconds to go and the game was tied. Newton inbounded the ball and went to length of the court and after an offensive rebound, Wyatt Henderson sank the game-winning shot with just under five seconds to go leading to a Knights victory! Great job boys! Our next game is tonight at Goddard. Coach Wilmes will see you in the gym right after school.

There WILL be Battle of the Books club after school today in room 1527! Come join the fun!

Climate, Safety, and Wellness Survey for Families

Please consider taking it… We have less than 10% of our families surveyed!

Please help us build a safe, healthy and inclusive school by taking time to participate in this year’s  Climate, Safety and Wellness Survey for LPS Families. This brief survey helps us gather your feedback about the school environment and important issues for students and families. The survey is administered electronically and the results are completely anonymous (no names are recorded and no identifying information is attached to specific responses).

The survey will be open through December 20, 2024. If you have children at multiple schools, you can choose to complete a survey for each school. After the survey is administered, the data will be compiled and shared with each school community. Please visit the LPS website for more detailed information about the survey content.

Please complete the Climate, Safety and Wellness Survey for Families.

Thanks for taking time to provide this important feedback. We look forward to reviewing the information and continuing to make NMS and LPS a welcoming and supportive community to all.

8th Grade Basketball fees have posted

8th grade parents… Please pay at your convenience in the Parent Portal.

Also the first 8th grade basketball games are this week at Euclid on Wednesday and at Goddard on Thursday.  The buses will leave around 3:45/4pm and the first game will be around 4:15/4:30.  A plays first, then B and then C.  Additionally, just a reminder that LPS Sports are no-cut sports and we have roughly 58 students and everyone plays, so be prepared for a limited number of minutes for all of the players.  We have roughly 15 more players than most seasons, so we are going to make sure everyone gets a chance to play.

Attendance Letters (8 day)

The district policy around attendance letters is that we are supposed to send letters when students are at eight-days of absence.  It does not discriminate between excused or unexcused absences.  If you have received a letter, or receive a letter, please know that we are just notifying you that we are aware that they are at eight days of absence.  When we are concerned about your children’s absences, your child’s grade level administrator will follow up with a phone call or email.  Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
