Happy Halloween Knights! If you purchased a carnival ticket you will receive that ticket at the end of 8th period today. You will go to your study hall class like a normal schedule. Then you will be dismissed at 3:15 with your ticket to go to the gym for the Halloween carnival. If you want to come to  the carnival but did NOT buy a ticket in advance, you can join us at 3:30. You will need to bring $3 or 5 Code cards to enter. Thank you! From student council.

Congratulations to the 7th grade girls basketball teams on their victories over Powell yesterday. The A team was paced by Madelyn Timmons, who scored 12 points, and Malia Flemister, who had 13 rebounds. The B team also played great with Megan Lea-Shaddox and Parker Roth leading all scorers with 8 and 6 points respectively. Way to go Lady Knights!

What a great showing our 6th grade wrestlers made at the festival at Euclid. Lots of matches were wrestled and everyone looked good. Especially impressive were the multiple new moves that were tried for the very first time in competition; this takes courage and skill and we saw it. A special shout out goes to Tyson Van Gelder, Sophia Teesdale, Xavier Duran, Sam Currier, Nolan Boshart, Brantley Simpson, and Mathew Patron. Please join us on Thursday to watch the Newton Knights take on Powell here at home. Great job everyone.

Attention Wrestlers! We are running practice tomorrow, Wednesday, after school in the gym. It is not on the schedule so make arrangements. See you tomorrow!

Student council is hosting a great time on Tuesday October 31st and we want YOU to join us. Games, music, prizes and fun. Bring $3 to lunch to buy your ticket all week. OR you can use 5 CODE cards for a ticket too.

What a great rehearsal we had last night!  There are so many great things happening on the stage right now! Tech crew is beginning to get the sets on stage in a timely manner, and the lights are getting all sorted out.  The jocks really showed a lot of energy during the song Status Quo.  Everything is starting to come together, we are really excited for Newton to see the performance in a few weeks.

A reminder to student council members we have our next BIG planning meeting on Wednesday (today) after school in Mrs. Sutton's room until 4:30pm. See Mrs. Jenkins or Mrs. Sutton with questions. 

Do you want something to do Thursday afterschool? You'll be happy to know that the Newton No Name Club is back! All are welcome to come and hang out, play games, or make art.  Our first meeting will be on tomorrow, Sept 7.  Please talk to Mrs. Winschuh or Ms. Andrews for more information.

Start collecting your code cards. The CODE shop will be open tomorrow during lunch time. Bring your CODE cards with you to the cafeteria as you will not be able to go back to your locker to grab them.

Attention all flag football members, there will be flag football today at 3:30 after school on the field. See Ms. Seavall in room 0511 with questions

What an amazing wrestling dual we had at Euclid last night. There were so many good matches it was hard to keep track. Wrestlers are trying lots of new moves as we saw plenty of cradles, half nelsons, and pins for the win. Special shout outs go to Evan Wittern, JJ Robinette, James Delponte, Garrett Beyer, James Kane, Vincent Morales and Ian Potter. We look forward to seeing you all at practice this afternoon. Great job team!!!

Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade band and orchestra musicians for a great concert last night! They ended the show as a Symphony with every student on stage together for an ominous Halloween song called Dark Ride. Well done! 

Thank you to Alice MacDonald who represented Newton Middle School last night at the school board meeting. She did a great job presenting a student's perspective on Standards Based Learning.

We had a great showing last night as Newton defeated Goddard at the season's first wrestling match. Every wrestler did a great job and everyone learned something as well. Special shout outs go to Arrow Moore, Tristan Breum, Jude Van Dusseldorp, James Delponte, Drew Bowman, Dahntay Kouahi, Theo Lee and many more!!! We have a great team this year and are looking for many more amazing matches.

Hey Newton!  TODAY is the day!!  Join us for the No Name Club!  There is no sign up needed, just come to the art room after school!! Come hang out with your friends, eat snacks, play games and make art!   Please talk to Mrs. Winschuh or Ms. Andrews for more information.

Hey 6th grade track! Surprise! We will have a bonus after school popsicle party after school today right outside the library in the cafeteria from 3:30-3:45 to celebrate the end of the season. Join us if you can! Congrats to all of you who competed yesterday, great effort and performances! 

NJHS Students. If you are interested in volunteering for The Stride for your October hours, Come to Ms. Seavall's Classroom 0511 TODAY after school for a quick 5 minute announcement! Again if you want to volunteer at the Stride come today for a quick announcement, see you then! 

Tuesday night we had 220 Knights come to our Glow Skate party! Great job Newton in your school spirit. Thanks to the teachers who also came out on a Tuesday night. Stop by and see Coach Wallace and Coach Perkins on your way home after school. Your ticket for your pizza is the safe return of your track jersey to either Coach Perkins or Coach wellness. 8th Grade Lady Knights the count down for basketball season is on!!!!!  There will be a brief informational meeting after school on Tuesday, October 3 in room 0529. Please make sure you have a ride home! You will meet the coaches and receive your schedule.  Our first practice will be after school Wednesday, October 4.  Can't make the meeting, no problem, swing by room 0529 for information!

Students, are you looking for something fun to do on Tuesday? Well... student council is hosting a GLOW theme skate party just for Newton!! Join your fellow Knights on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd from 6-8pm for a fun couple hours of skating, hanging out, and listening to great music. Last year was a great time, so we hope you join us this year too! Students, families and staff are invited to attend. Grab a flyer from your Homeroom teacher! See you there!!
